Lyrics
I Like To Drink
Donald Mercer
Copyright 2025
I like to drink
I hate to see the bottom of a glass
Never seems to last
It goes so fast
Now you might think
There must be something buried in my past
A hurt that never passed
From a fair haired lass
Well you’d be wrong
It’s just a pleasant Friday night
Not lookin’ to get drunk
No one lookin’ for a fight
I work so hard all week
Hardly time to sit and think
Thank God I found this place
It’s a drinkin’ bar
No band to fill the air
No women in tight jeans
No young studs makin’ a scene
And off in the corner
Old men are playin’ cards
And tellin’ lies
The smell of rich cigars
LEAD
And here’s old Jack, sometimes
We chat the night away
It might be politics
Or the price of straw and hay
Free pretzels on the bar
That never goes away
Oh Lord I love this day
I like to drink
I hate to see the bottom of an empty glass
Never seems to last
It goes so fast
